Jumanji is probably the only franchise in recent years that rebooted to success.
This official trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level (2019, directed by Jake Kasdan) certainly explains how the story is going to continue after the success of 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
I’m not exactly visually impressed by this sequel’s special effects as it seems that more work has to be done in the editing bay. I’m happy to see the same teenagers reprising their roles, though it seems to only be for a short while.
New human characters are also introduced into this sequel and we now get to see Dwayne Johnson’s Smolder Bravestone, Kevin Hart’s Franklin “Mouse” Finbar and Jack Black’s Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon become different personalities due to a glitch in the Jumanji game. It looks like only Karen Gillan’s video game persona Ruby Roundhouse is played by the same teen character.
I’m looking forward to seeing more footage from this upcoming Christmas movie, as this trailer is just a small taste into what’s coming next. And it certainly looks like a very exciting adventure with lots of monkeys.
