It seems like at least one of the Monterey Five is headed to an undesirable end no matter what.

This post for Big Little Lies “Kill Me” contains spoilers.
Is “Kill Me” (2019, directed by Andrea Arnold) a metaphor for how the Monterey Five are feeling in this week’s episode of Big Little Lies? Because it certainly seems like it.
As the series is left with one more episode till the big finale, this week’s episode feels very much like a filler of emotions. Mary Louise (Meryl Streep) continues to be ignorantly menacing and preaches only what she thinks is right. Her custody battle for the twins with Celeste (Nicole Kidman) begins and it’s off to a shaky start for Celeste as she feels that her lawyer is doing nothing to fight the case—just like how Renata (Laura Dern) puts it best, “Lawyer fuck things up, often.”. At this point, I don’t think I have anything nice to say about Mary Louise except for the fact that she’s portrayed by Streep.

In “Kill Me”, Renata finds out that her Women in Power magazine feature is being dropped because of the whole bankruptcy suit that is happening. She’s furious, of course, because being cut from the San Francisco Women’s Magazine makes her feel, ironically, powerless.

And don’t get me started about Madeline’s (Reese Witherspoon) storyline this week. That whole couple’s therapy retreat with Ed (Adam Scott) was a complete waste of time.
As for Jane, she is still struggling with her trauma, but thankfully her date Corey (Douglas Smith) is so sweet, patient and understanding about her situation. However, in a quick jump cut right at the end of this episode, it showed Bonnie witnessing Corey coming out of the police station looking like he had just done something he was not supposed to. I think things will definitely start to unravel next week as it’s the penultimate episode of this series. I’m not sure how things will end for each individual women, but one thing’s for sure, Bonnie is definitely spilling the truth.
