One has to wonder why would Dylan O’Brien star in another dystopian-esque movie, having been in The Maze Runner franchise a few years back. Set in the post-apocalyptic period, Love and Monsters (2020, directed by Michael Matthews) depicts a world where mutated insects roam the earth and humans have been tucked away in different bunker colonies for survival.

When the opening scene of Crawl (2019, directed by Alexandre Aja) started rolling, it immediately felt suggestive of a typical sports genre movie about an Olympic athlete; but as the next 15 or so minutes go by, the movie shifts its tone to something more apocalyptic as the main plot becomes centred around a Category 5 hurricane set in Florida, in which Haley (Kaya Scodelario) must go and check on her father Dave (Barry Pepper) to ensure that he is safe and sound.

Trailer Reaction: Rocketman 🚀🕺🏼

The upcoming musical biopic Rocketman feels reminiscent of Bohemian Rhapsody, as both films explore similar themes.

Bohemian Rhapsody, though cliché, is my favourite film of 2018. Director Dexter Fletcher, whom had stepped in for Bryan Singer after he was fired from the film, is also directing Rocketman (2019). The film is described as an “uncensored human story” of Elton John’s life and music career.
